POSITION:         Landscape Assistant I (Part-time)

DEPARTMENT:   Parks & Heritage Services

SALARY:             $11.50, per hour

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Use, care and maintenance of all vehicles and equipment.

·         Maintain/repair and improve facilities.

·         Able to complete assignments within established timeframe.

·         Work productively at assigned tasks, whether working independently or
  as part of a group.

·         Required to attend training classes, (including, but not limited to, First
  Aid, CPR, Bloodbourne Pathogens, and any other classes as deemed
  necessary).

·         Must be on call and available to work during snow removal and other
  emergencies (including evenings, weekends and holidays).

·         Must conform to standard uniform requirements; will be required to utilize
  all safety equipment provided.

·         Openings are available at Norristown Farm Park and at Green Lane
  Park.

ABILITIES, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

·         Able to work productively in all types of weather.

·         Able to lift in excess of 50 pounds.

·         Tree care (planting, pruning, removal and brush chipping)

·         Turf maintenance (grass cutting, trimming, establishment).

·         All aspects of snow removal (plowing, shoveling, de-icing).

·         Building/restroom cleaning and refuse collection.

·         Paintwork, carpentry, plumbing and electrical work, as required.

·         Mechanical aptitude is required (maintenance, operation, trouble-
  shooting and repair of small engines and vehicles.

·         Light welding/fabrication would be helpful; but is not required.

·         Previous related experience/training in above trades.

·         Good oral and written communication skills are required

·         Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License

·         High School diploma or equivalency (college/trade school coursework
  preferred)
