POSITION:        Carpenter II

DEPARTMENT:  Public Property

SALARY:            $36,429 – 39,858, depending on relevant experience

DUTIES:

Perform a variety of millwork, cabinetry, construction and restoration in any of the County’s (thirty [30]) locations.  Currently, those locations include:   Court House, Human Services Center, Youth Center, all Historic Sites, Emergency Operations Center, all Parks and the Willow Grove Annex.  Primary duties will consist of (but are not limited to) all types of carpentry, millwork (rough framing, finish cabinetry); roofing of all types (slate, cedar, asphalt); tile, windows and doors.  Secondary duties will consist of (but are not limited to) all types of masonry (concrete work, stucco, stone, plaster); painting.

 ABILITIES, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

• Experience in masonry, concrete and other, related materials.
• Experience in coatings/painting and other finishes, together with knowledge of proper preparation and application.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings.
• Proficiency in the operation/maintenance of machinery found in a cabinet workshop.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing and electrical work.
• Must have good inter-personal, oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work efficiently and productively either alone or as part of a team.
• Ability to work off of ladders, scaffolds and motorized man lifts on roofs of various pitches and heights.
• Ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme heat.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Additional training in cabinet making, millwork and carpentry is preferred.
